Dartington Stoneware Bowl

The origins of Dartington Pottery lie in the early 1930s when Bernard Leach and, later, his son David set up the first pottery at Shinners Bridge. These inspirational beginnings were developed by Sam Haile and his wife Marianne de Trey who arrived in 1947. Despite Sams tragic death the next year, Marianne created a dynamic pottery with a successful apprenticeship scheme. The 1980s saw groundbreaking new designs from Janice Tchalenko and continued development of training excellence. Dartington Pottery is eagerly sought both in its standard designs, in limited editions and individual artists one-off pieces.
