Poppy Dandiya was born in India and studied jewellery and gemmology at Sir John Cass, London. While still studying he started selling his creations through Liberty of Regent Street. In 1986 Poppy set up the first jewellery-making school in India, where he taught for the next four years. He proceeded to pass on his own experiences and introduced an entire generation to the art of jewellery-making. In 1996 he moved back to England, and started exhibiting his work through leading galleries. Poppy often combines silver, 18 karat white and yellow, and pure gold. He uses a wide assortment of gemstones including rough, abstract-cut diamonds. His designs have an organic sculptural quality, incorporating his Indian heritage with insight into Western style, and involve several techniques created by and unique to him. His jewellery is classic, timeless, and much sought after.
