The beauty of natural wood is revealed in the intricate puzzles made by Philippine. She lives by the River Usk in the Brecon Beacons where the Welsh landscape and local timbers inspire her work. From an early age she helped her inventor father in his factory. Later as a civil engineer she designed and supervised the construction of harbours, quays and bridges. She has built and sailed in boats; and established a craft candle-making shop with people with learning disabilities. All this mathematical design and creative experience is apparent in the jigsaws that have become increasingly challenging for her to design and for purchasers to assemble.
