Product Details

A reversible spinning silver ring with blue enamel flower and seed head patterns. Size N to O.

Cathy Newell Price works from her studio in converted farm buildings in Shinfield near Reading. Her jewellery is inspired by the British countryside and gardens. Her interest in plants is not surprising as her degree was in Plant Science at Cardiff University. A self-taught jeweller, she has been working in silver since she was a teenager and still uses the piercing saw she was bought when she was fifteen. Materials used are precious metals, gems and vitreous enamel. Recent designs have been formed by casting molten silver directly into hand carved moulds resulting in a raised surface design. Each piece made is a one off as the moulds cannot be used twice. Continued development of these new hand cast pieces led to them being enamelled and set into hand made silver settings. Other techniques include lost wax casting, enamelling, hand piercing and fabrication, etching, stamping and roll printing with hand made plates.
